<Marco Cappelli Acoustic Trio>

Marco Cappelli, born in Naples, Italy is an accomplished guitarist who embarked on an extraordinary artistic journey since the mid-1900s. He studied with Oscar Ghiglia at the Musik Akademie der Stadt in BASEL, Switzerland. Throughout his career, Cappelli has lead both the realm of rigorous written music and the language of free improvisation.

Marco Cappelli has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including Anthony Coleman, Michel Godard, Butch Morris, Franco Piersanti, Jim Pugliese, Enrico Rava, Marc Ribot, Adam Rudolph, Elliott Sharp, Giovanni Sollima, Markus Stockhausen, Cristina Zavalloni, and Raiz, among others.

Since 2004 Marco Cappelli made his home in Brooklyn, NY where he actively interacts with the rich Big Apple artistic scene. His large discography includes solo and chamber music albums as well as his personal projects as a band leader, released by renowned recording labels as Mode Records and Tzadik. Marco Cappelli has also composed music for movies, theater and dance. In September 2015, he has been artist in residence at The Stone, the prestigious experimental and avantgarde New York venue directed by John Zorn.

At the side of his concert activity, Marco Cappelli teaches intensively: he is guitar professor at Conservatorio “Vincenzo Bellini” in Palermo and at Columbia University in New York. He has taught a number of masterclasses around the world.

<Pasquale Grasso>

In a 2016 interview with Vintage Guitar magazine, jazz-guitar icon Pat Metheny praised young guitarist Pasquale Grasso as one of the best he’s ever heard. Grasso’s playing stands out because he doesn’t sound like the typical guitarists influenced by Metheny, John Scofield, or Bill Frisell. Instead, he draws inspiration from bebop pioneers like Bud Powell and translates their language from piano to guitar in a unique way. Metheny invited Grasso to jam and has become a mentor to him. Grasso’s solo-guitar EP series showcases his remarkable mastery, blending midcentury jazz and classical influences. He has gained recognition through online performance videos, winning the Wes Montgomery International Jazz Guitar Competition, and performing with renowned musicians. Grasso’s musical journey is closely tied to his older brother, Luigi Grasso, a talented saxophonist. They were raised in Italy in a household filled with jazz and classical music, and their passion for music led them to excel in their respective instruments. Through mentors like Agostino Di Giorgio and Barry Harris, Grasso honed his skills and expanded his jazz perspective. He also found inspiration in recordings by Charlie Parker, Art Tatum, and classical guitarist David Russell. Grasso’s fusion of jazz and classical techniques blossomed at the Conservatory of Bologna, and he later moved to New York, where he immersed himself in the jazz scene. His Sony Masterworks EPs capture his lifelong dedication to music and his desire to push boundaries. The EPs explore the repertoire of legendary jazz figures like Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, Bud Powell, and Charlie Parker.
